Grammy award winning, pianist, composer and arranger, Bob James returns with his first recording project as leader since 2006 and celebrates with a string of shows at Jazz Alley. The new trio release features drummer Billy Kilson, and bassist Michael Palazzolo.


Bob James early career was encouraged and supported by Quincy Jones, who become his mentor beginning in 1963. For fans who follow the artist, you will know he has a deep affinity for fine coffee and has an extensive collection of coffee mugs.  Hence the name of the new album Espresso. The new album features 11 songs including new orginals and interpretations of classic compositions including Grover Washington Jr.’s “Mister Magic” and the jazz standard “Ain’t Misbehavin’”.  Bob James long history as an arranger for artists including Sarah Vaughn show through on this fine new recording.
